How mirror text works
A few letters are already mirror images of each other — b and d, p and q. For everything else, this tool swaps in the closest-looking Unicode character and reverses the whole string, so the word reads correctly once it's actually reflected. Some letters barely move (i, o, x); others turn into something you wouldn't recognize at a glance, like R becoming Я.
Don't mix this up with flipping text upside down. That rotates each letter 180°, like turning a page over. Mirroring only flips left-to-right, the way an actual mirror works — letters stay upright, but the whole line runs backwards.
Where people actually use it
The oldest real-world example is on the front of ambulances: the word is mirrored so a driver ahead reads it correctly in their rearview mirror, not backwards. Outside of that, it mostly shows up in puzzle posts (part of the fun is realizing you need to hold your phone up to a mirror), Discord names — since almost nobody else's looks like that — and Halloween-adjacent signage, where mirror writing has that "written by someone who isn't right" quality to it.

Why do some letters not change at all?
Letters that already look the same reflected — i, l, m, n, o, u, v, w, x, y, and most capitals — don't need a substitute. Swapping them for something else would just make the output harder to read for no reason.
Can I undo a message someone already mirrored?
Switch the mode to "Un-mirror", or leave it on "Auto" and paste the mirrored text in — the tool can tell the difference and decodes it automatically.
Is this actually an image?
No — it's plain Unicode text, so you can copy it, search for it, and paste it anywhere text works.
